A Brief History of Branford
Throughout history, the citizens of Branford have contributed to every aspect of the nation’s growth. The earliest inhabitants of the area, then called “Totoket” or Land of the Tidal River, were, of course, Native Americans. Branford Public Schools The Branford Public Schools are committed to developing life long learners who are capable and confidant; contribute to their community, and who succeed in a changing global community.
An elected nine member Board of Education is responsible for the operation of the six public schools. The school system provides comprehensive educational programs to students in pre-kindergarten through grade twelve as well as a wide range of adult education courses as part of a regional collaboration.
