On behalf of the Town, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Branford.

Established in 1644, Branford combines the charm of a New England coastal village with the convenience of New Haven, less than ten miles away.   And with 20 miles of coastline on Long Island Sound and one of the most beautiful town greens in the state, it’s easy to find a picturesque view from almost anywhere in town.

Branford is a vital community with a strong economic base, low taxes, and excellent schools and municipal services. Ours is an established, suburban residential community with a balance of retail, commercial and industrial properties.   Located mid-way between Boston and Manhattan, we also boast excellent transportation links, whether it be interstate highways, rail or air service: we have four access points onto I-95 and are only minutes to I-91, daily commuter rail service on the Shore Line East takes us to New Haven and also connects directly to both Amtrak and Metro North, and Tweed-New Haven airport is conveniently only minutes away.
