AWARD FOR CONFORT KEEPERS

Senior Care Industry Leader Recognized As Top in its Category in

Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500© for 2013

GUILFORD, CONNECTICUT (January 23, 2013) – Comfort Keepers® of CT Shoreline in Guilford, CT, is pleased to share news of national recognition provided by Entrepreneur Magazine’s Annual Franchise 500© rankings for 2013.  The magazine recently recognized Comfort Keepers as the #1 franchise within the senior care category as well as #59 among the top 500 franchises.

Patti Urban, owner of Comfort Keepers of CT Shoreline, is thrilled about this accomplishment, indicating, “This kind of recognition among all franchises, nationally, is rare.  It’s something all of us at our office, as well as the 700+ locations around the world including 10 right here in Connecticut, can be proud of.  However, Urban is equally quick to add, “Ultimately, it is what we do each and every day that matters most:  we help seniors to live independently within the comfort of their own homes.”

Entrepreneur’s 34th Annual Franchise 500 ranking reveals the impact of the newest trends and the industries poised for growth. All companies, regardless of size, are judged by the same criteria: objective, quantifiable measures of the franchise operation. The most important factors include financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the system. According to Entrepreneur, the Franchise 500 shows that many of the most competitive companies are those that go after a specific demographic. Among the top growing demographic categories, nationally, is senior care. The continued growth of the senior population bodes well for franchise organizations like Comfort Keepers.

The annual Entrepreneur magazine Top 500 Franchise list is available here

Can Natural Remedies Help Protect You During Cold & Flu Season?

Bryce McManus DC, MS, CCSP

This winter season, we are experiencing an extremely aggressive cold strain and three very aggressive flu strains.  Those who have been lucky enough to avoid them thus far may be looking for help to support their immune system.  Some may turn to natural remedies.  But do these actually work?

Some evidence shows that help may be found in your local drug store or even in your pantry.  Vitamin C has been a go-to treatment for colds, for good reason.  At least 1 gram per day can help to boost your immune system, and new research reveals that if you have a cold, taking Vitamin C at higher doses can shorten the duration of your cold.  Additionally, adding Vitamin D to your daily supplement regiment works very well in supporting a healthy and strong immune system.   Vitamin D doses vary but a typical dose for an adult ranges between 2000-5000 IU.

Another remedy that may shorten the duration of your cold is echincea- in particular, echinacea purpurea.  This natural remedy works best on adults, rather than children, and can get you feeling better faster.  It may not be effective in prevention, however.

Elderberry extract may be a useful tool in helping to treat the flu.  This herb shows signs of being able to boost the production of certain white blood cells and can actually assist the body in blocking the ability of a virus to replicate and spread.  If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, taking a formula such as Sambucol can shorten the duration of your flu by 50%!

Another remedy that can help with your cold and flu- in particular, the congestion associated with these aliments, is chicken soup.  Your mother was right to give you this comfort food when you felt sick as no other soup appears to decrease congestion like chicken soup does.

During this winter season, stock up on these natural remedies, get plenty of rest, stay home if you are ill, and as always, wash your hands thoroughly.  Be safe and seek the advice of your primary care doctor when necessary.

Be well,

Bryce McManus, your local Wellness & Sports Chiropractor

Worth Avenue Capital Assists Auto Repair Business in Debt Restructuring

September 17th, 2012 - Worth Avenue Capital, LLC of Guilford, Connecticut has successfully closed another bank workout and debt restructuring for one of its small business clients. WAC assisted a small business in Connecticut that operates in the automobile repair industry by negotiating the debt restructuring of a $300,000 commercial loan that this business currently has outstanding with a very large multi-national commercial bank. Despite the fact that WAC's client has been in business for over eighty years and has always handled its loan repayment terms with this bank as agreed, the bank, prior to WAC's involvement, was very reluctant to restructure the loan with terms and conditions that would have benefited WAC's client. The original terms and conditions that the bank offered WAC's client were quite onerous and unworkable. In fact, the bank was originally unwilling to provide the company with any working capital through the debt restructuring. Through WAC's efforts, the company was able to obtain a lower interest rate; smaller monthly payments; lower bank due diligence fees including environmental testing costs and legal fees. Most importantly, Worth Avenue Capital was able to obtain an additional $30,000 in working capital as part of the bank workout and debt restructuring.

WAC specializes in arranging debt financing for small businesses who are having difficulty obtaining conventional bank financing and also specializes in handling bank workouts and debt restructurings for those same small businesses. You can learn more about WAC by taking a look at their website at www.weclosecommercialloans.com and by contacting the company's principal Michael M.
